Murray
Mary E Murray daughter of F and J Murray is buried at Black Walnut Cemetery. She was only 10 days old when she died on 18 Nov 1857.
Looking at the 1850 census of the John and Nancy Murray family, we found a Frank Murray living with his older brother John and his family which included their infant daughter Mary E. Murray. If you check on the McKenzie grave sites, you will see that this Mary E. Murray is the mother of the McKenzie children. This 1850 census showed the connection between the Murray and McKenzie families. It is quite probable that the infant Mary E. Murray born in 1857 was named for her older cousin Mary Ellen Murray who was born in 1850.
We located a St Charles County marriage license from Feb 13, 1857 when Jane James married Francis Murray. We also located the obituary for Jane Murray which told her family’s story of immigrating to Missouri from England in 1852. We further found documentation with the passenger list of their ship from 1852.
The Murray family stayed in St. Charles County until between 1863 and 1870 when they moved to Livingston County, Missouri. We have continued tracing the lines of Mary’s nine brothers and sisters in the hope of finding living descendants of this Murray family.
